A welded detail must carry load while permitting stable preparation, torch positioning, welding sequence, inspection and protection throughout its life. A design that ignores production transfers uncontrolled risk to the welder and examiner.
Can the critical property be produced by the selected process and verified by inspection without workshop improvisation?
Use the smallest safe and process-stable weld that fulfils the function.
Place a “virtual torch” and a “virtual probe” in the 3D model and travel the full weld, including start, stop and root. A collision found in production will always cost more.
