Traceability demonstrates material origin and the complete manufacturing history of a specific joint. It must work both forward and backward: from a certificate to all affected parts, and from the finished product to the certificate, WPS, personnel, consumable, NDT and repairs.
Can an auditor start with one product mark and reach the heat, consumable batch, WPS, welder, NDT and every repair without assumptions?
Evidence is created during the activity, not rebuilt for an audit.
Unknown or incomplete material is quarantined, not released to production.
